After the community profile is completed, we go to work planning a whirlwind two day visit for our two AIB judges. Hosting different judges each year, the AIB board takes seriously showing the best side of our fair city, and presenting the judges with our Southern hospitality, long heritage and amazing beauty.
The evaluations for each year let us know how well we’ve done with what we have, what Lexington might consider to improve further on our already amazing environment, and add ideas that may work that the judges have seen elsewhere. We learn much from these evaluations.
Each year, AIB communities are rated with one through five “blooms.” Based on the profiles, as well as the judges’ visit, Lexington was awarded four blooms in the very first year. Now a five bloom city with several commendations, we are still looking for ways to improve and expand our participation.
